On Tuesday, 30 January 2024, the Universal Peace Federation UK (UPF-UK) hosted a special World Interfaith Harmony Week programme titled “How Can Interfaith Support Greater World Harmony?” at its headquarters, 43 Lancaster Gate, London. The event brought together faith leaders, Ambassadors for Peace, youth representatives, and community activists to discuss the vital role of interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation in advancing global harmony and peace.
Speakers from Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Hindu, and other traditions shared insights on how interfaith collaboration can help address some of today’s most pressing challenges, from social division and extremism to conflict resolution and climate change. The discussions highlighted the power of faith communities working together to promote human dignity, reconciliation, and shared values.
The programme also included prayers for peace, testimonies of grassroots initiatives, and opportunities for dialogue among participants. By fostering understanding across diverse traditions, the event reaffirmed UPF’s vision of building “One Family Under God” and the importance of interfaith cooperation in achieving sustainable peace and world harmony.
In the midst of a world facing increased fragmentation with over 30 conflicts, we contemplate the pivotal role interfaith dialogue can play in fostering greater global harmony. As a staunch supporter of World Interfaith Harmony Week, Universal Peace Federation UK is dedicated to contributing to this initiative annually. Many UPF Branches will be commemorating WIHW around the world.
